Lina Pliško

Lina Pliško serves as Full Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Philosophy, Juraj Dobrila University in Pula, where she leads the Department of Croatian Language 'Ivan Zoričić'. With academic credentials spanning from her 1985 diploma to her 2003 PhD, she has established herself as a leading authority in Croatian dialectology.

Her educational journey includes undergraduate studies at the Pedagogical Academy in Ljubljana (1983) and Pedagogical Faculty in Rijeka (1985), followed by Master's (1999) and Doctoral degrees (2003) from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. Her doctoral dissertation focused on 'Hrvatska gramatika Francesca Marije Appendinija'.

Professor Pliško's research centers on field-based dialectological studies of Chakavian dialects, particularly in southwestern Istria. Her work encompasses dialect classification systems, comparative dialectological research, and documentation of endangered linguistic varieties. She has pioneered methodologies for recording and analyzing traditional Istrian speech patterns, with special attention to the Barban region's linguistic heritage.

Her extensive publication record demonstrates consistent focus on Istrian dialect geography, with recent work exploring zoonymic idioms, culinary terminology, and literary representations of Chakavian dialects. The research trajectory shows increasing interdisciplinary connections between linguistics, cultural heritage preservation, and historical studies.
