Lina Herbertsson is a Researcher at Lund University, affiliated with multiple research initiatives including BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate), the Lund Vision Group, and the Sensory Biology Profile area. She is also a member of the LU Profile Area: Nature-based future solutions.
Her research focuses on assessing how different components of modern agriculture affect wild pollinators and pollination, with a particular emphasis on wild plant pollination and biodiversity conservation. Her work bridges ecological theory with practical applications for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life on land and climate action.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on pollinator ecology in agricultural landscapes, particularly examining the impacts of road infrastructure, traffic intensity, vegetation management, and pesticide use on pollinator behavior and conservation. Her research integrates field studies with policy-relevant findings to inform sustainable agricultural practices.
Scientific Awards:
- Forskar Grand Prix (2018 November 27)
- Forskar Grand Prix Lund (2018 September 29)
- GfÖ Poster Award (2015 September 4)
Herbertsson actively supervises doctoral students and participates in multiple research projects, including the EU-funded PollinERA project (2024-2027) focused on pesticide-pollinator interactions to support EU Environmental Risk Assessment. She also serves as a supervisor for neurofunctional effects of pesticide exposure research and participates in the iENT project investigating neuroenvironmental toxicity of pesticides on insects.
She is actively engaged in public outreach through media appearances discussing pollinator conservation issues, including interviews about declining pollinator populations and herbicide research. Her work connects academic research with practical environmental challenges facing modern agriculture.
