Lin Yue

Lin Yue is a doctoral candidate and visiting researcher at the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG), Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society, University of Lugano, supervised by Prof. Gabriele Balbi. Her China Scholarship Council (CSC)-funded research examines comparative digital mobile payment revolutions in Chinese and European contexts with a decade-long historical perspective.

Her academic background includes:

• 2022 Master's degree from University of Zurich analyzing cross-cultural management of Chinese (Little Red Book) and European (Instagram) social media platforms
• 2021 MSc in International Management and Marketing with distinction-awarded thesis on eco-labelling's impact on Chinese Gen-Z consumers

Research focuses on cultural dynamics in financial communication, digital payment ecosystems, and media history through comparative analysis of Chinese-European technological transitions. Current work investigates how media/tech company cultures shape mobile payment adoption trajectories within evolving regulatory landscapes.

Recognized with a master's thesis distinction award in 2021, her doctoral work receives CSC funding. As a doctoral candidate, she does not supervise students but contributes to IMeG's research environment through industry experience from XinHua News agency and cross-cultural expertise.
