Professor Limin Mao is a leading academic at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She serves as a core member of the Centre for Social Research in Health, where her work bridges public health, social research, and statistical analysis to address chronic infections and comorbidities.

Her research focuses on HIV, hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention, with an emphasis on behavioral surveillance, mHealth, and health promotion among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations, including gay and bisexual men, people who inject drugs, and migrants. She has pioneered studies on treatment adherence, stigma, and social determinants of health.
Recent publications highlight trends in PrEP adoption, digital health interventions, and co-design approaches to improve care for gender-diverse groups. Her work spans Australia and China, addressing disparities in hypertension and diabetes management through health information systems.
