Lily Halsted is a Professor in the Department of Psychology within the College of Arts & Sciences at Queens University of Charlotte. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology and teaches courses including Psychology of Learning, Physiological Psychology, Psychology of Language, and History of Psychology.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. and M.A. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Oregon
- B.S. in Psychology from the University of Oregon
- B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Oregon
Dr. Halsted's research focuses on bilingualism and the social factors influencing bilingual speakers, particularly code-switching. She has conducted studies on code-switching among bilinguals speaking Arabic, German, Spanish, and French, with recent work examining why German bilinguals code-switch less frequently. Her main specialty areas are Physiological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Psycholinguistics, and Developmental Psychology.
She has received teaching awards for her dedication to student mentorship and learning.
