Lili Tian, PhD, is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Biostatistics at the University at Buffalo (School of Public Health and Health Professions). She also serves as Director of Graduate Studies and holds an adjunct professorship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on statistical methodologies for diagnostic studies, biomarker evaluation, and applications in public health, cancer research, and biomedical sciences.
Education: PhD and MA in Statistics (University of Rochester), MA in Theoretical Physics (Shandong University), and MA in Physics (University of Rochester).
Research interests include classification metrics development, medical device evaluation, and interdisciplinary applications in clinical trials, epidemiology, and biobehavioral research. Recent work addresses health disparities (e.g., historical redlining’s impact on cancer outcomes) and environmental health (e.g., air pollution and telomere length).
Key achievements: Elected ASA Fellow, Editor-in-Chief of Statistical Methods in Medical Research, and member of the ENAR Regional Advisory Board. Her work spans 200+ peer-reviewed publications, with emphasis on methodological advancements and translational research.
