Dr. Lilas Alrahis serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her academic trajectory includes a Postdoctoral Associate position at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) from March 2021 to August 2024, where she contributed to the NYUAD Center for Cyber Security.
Her doctoral education was completed in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Khalifa University, establishing her foundational expertise in hardware systems and security protocols.
Dr. Alrahis specializes in hardware security with emphasis on design-for-trust methodologies and applied machine learning techniques. Her research bridges logic locking mechanisms with graph neural networks to develop resilient integrated circuit protections against counterfeiting and tampering, addressing critical vulnerabilities in semiconductor supply chains. This work demonstrates significant interdisciplinary convergence between cybersecurity, VLSI design, and artificial intelligence.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized through multiple prestigious awards including the MWSCAS Myril B. Reed Best Paper Award (2016), dual Best Paper Awards at Cyber Security Awareness Week (2019, 2021), and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology International Excellence Fellowship (2023).
Dr. Alrahis actively contributes to academic service as Associate Editor for the Integration, VLSI Journal and chairs the IEEE Women in Engineering UAE affinity group. She secured the NYUAD Collaboration Grant in July 2023 to advance her hardware security research and teaches Digital Logic Design (ECCE210) at Khalifa University, shaping next-generation engineering education.
