Dr. Lijie Shao is an academic staff member and International Language Tutor at the School of Applied Language & Intercultural Studies, Dublin City University. She specializes in teaching Chinese as an international language and intercultural studies, with industry experience in international higher education consultancy. Her research focuses on English Medium Instruction (EMI), multilingualism in China, and cross-cultural educational practices.

Research Interests: Dr. Shao’s work examines EMI in globalized higher education, multilingual university environments, and sociolinguistic aspects of language use in China. She has conducted comparative studies across China, Japan, and the Netherlands, emphasizing policy, pedagogy, and stakeholder perspectives.
Publications: Her recent works include studies on EMI challenges in business programs and cross-cultural educational frameworks. Her 2024 paper analyzes stakeholder conflicts in multilingual university settings, while her 2023 book chapter applies the ROAD-MAPPING framework to comparative EMI research.
Awards: Recipient of the Trinity Postgraduate Studentship (2015).
Teaching & Engagement: Teaches Chinese language and culture modules, including translation and beginner/intermediate language courses. Engaged in outreach through the Fair Fees Campaign with the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland.
