معرفی
Liina Jürisoo is a Research Fellow at Linnaeus University's Department of Forestry and Wood Technology within the Faculty of Engineering. She joined the university as a PostDoc fellow in November 2023 following completion of her PhD at Estonian University of Life Sciences in 2021.
Her research focuses on sustainable forest management with particular expertise in:
- Conservation of threatened elm trees through holobiont concept
- Peri-urban forests for climate change mitigation and multiple ecosystem benefits
- Forest management addressing economic, social, and ecological aspects
Dr. Jürisoo leads the project 'New approaches for conservation of threatened elm trees through holobiont concept' which aims to expand knowledge for sustainable conservation of elm trees threatened by Dutch elm disease. She is also involved in the 'Green Frontiers' project exploring peri-urban forests' potential for climate change mitigation in transitional areas between urban centers and rural landscapes.
Her research examines fungal assemblages in northern elms and their relationship to host identity, health, growth environment, and Dutch elm disease presence, as well as collaborative approaches to urban tree biosecurity involving stakeholder perceptions and social networks.
Dr. Jürisoo is establishing herself as a researcher who bridges theoretical ecological concepts with practical forest management applications, with particular focus on integrating microbial ecology knowledge into tree conservation strategies.
