Lihong Zhang is a Lecturer in Project Planning & Control Finance within the Department of Civil Engineering and Management at the School of Engineering. His research focuses on Project and Innovation Management (PIM) as it applies to Complex Engineered Systems (CES), integrating digital transformation, sustainable design, and AI-driven solutions. He holds a PhD in Innovation Management and multiple professional certifications including Senior Fellowship HEA (SFHEA).
Education qualifications include a BEng in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, MEng in Engineering Management, MPhil in International Business Management, and a PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. He actively collaborates with SMEs through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) and Innovate UK programs, with a current focus on developing a patent-pending Floating Resort Installation (FRI) system.
Key research areas include complex product-service systems (CoPSS), digital transformation, sustainable supply chains, and project governance. His work aligns with UN SDGs, particularly addressing sustainable cities and communities through smart infrastructure projects like bike-sharing systems.
Zhang has received national awards including Project Professional of the Year 2021 and Supervisor of the Year 2022. His publications emphasize bibliometric analyses, topic modeling methodologies, and the application of machine learning in operations management. He serves on editorial boards for journals like International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management and actively reviews for leading academic venues.
