Dr. Ligia Alberto is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of Educational Leadership at Felician University’s School of Education. She holds a Doctor of Education from Seton Hall University (2018), a Master’s in Counseling (2008), and a Bachelor’s in Spanish Literature/Education (2005). Her research focuses on School Leadership, Mentoring, Social Capital, Diversity, and Cultural Competency. She transitioned from classroom teaching in NYC public schools to counseling, then leadership roles in assessment and alternative education programs.
Her career includes directing assessments for 3,000 students in Bergenfield Public Schools and leading an alternative high school for at-risk students. She presents nationally on equity, mentoring, and social capital in education, and volunteers as a Commissioner with the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools. Courses taught include School Finance, Data-Informed Leadership, and Supervision of Personnel.
