Liebner, Falk

Falk Liebner is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources, Department of Chemistry, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). His research focuses on the chemical modification of lignocellulosic biomass components (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin) for sustainable materials development under the Green Chemistry philosophy.

• Research areas: Bioinspired ultra-light materials, supercritical fluid processing, biodegradability, and biocompatibility studies.
• Applications: Thermal super-isolation, energy storage, (bio)sensors, drug delivery systems, and cell culture technology.

His work involves developing ordered solid-state structures, stimuli-responsive materials, and topologically tailored surfaces. Publications include studies on aerogels, lignin-based humic matter characterization, and fluorescence labeling techniques for cellulose analysis.
