Lidia María Cuadrado Payeras is a Lecturer with a PhD in Advanced English Studies at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Department of Spanish, Modern, and Classical Languages and English Philology. She holds a dual MA in Advanced English Studies (2017) and Translation and Intercultural Mediation (2020), completing her doctoral research at Universidad de Salamanca under a national FPU scholarship. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on English language pedagogy, feminist global studies, science communication, and literary analysis across multiple degree programs (Primary Education, Biochemistry, English Studies, etc.).
Her research focuses on posthumanist motifs in contemporary Canadian speculative fiction, with emphases on dystopian imaginaries, transhumanist technologies, and cultural narratology. She is a member of nationally-funded research groups like Narrating Resilience (cultural resilience narratives) and Celsius 233 (speculative fiction analysis), and serves as Spanish co-representative for the Science Fiction Research Association. Her work bridges literary theory with interdisciplinary critiques of technology, identity, and agency in posthuman contexts.
Key contributions include analyzing transhumanist visions in dystopian narratives and co-editing Abbecedario del postumanismo. Teaching innovations involve service-learning projects and active pedagogical strategies. Her research collaborations span international teams examining economic inequality, cultural resilience, and speculative fiction's societal roles.
