Libertario Demi is an Associate Professor at the University of Trento, Italy, in the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI). He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and has held Visiting Professor roles at KAIST (South Korea), Stanford University (USA), and Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands).

His research focuses on biomedical imaging, ultrasound wave propagation modeling, and signal processing, particularly in lung ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound. He has pioneered beamforming and quantitative lung ultrasound methodologies, emphasizing the shift from qualitative to quantitative diagnostic approaches.
Demi has received multiple best poster awards at European symposiums on Ultrasound Contrast Imaging (2014–2017) and is a Fellow of The Acoustical Society of America and a Senior Member of the IEEE. His editorial roles include Deputy Editor of the Ultrasound Journal (Springer Nature) and Associate Editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
