Prof. Lianxi Zheng is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Nuclear Engineering at Khalifa University (UAE). His academic journey began with a B.E. in Electronic Engineering from Southeast University (China), followed by a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Hong Kong. He previously held positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory, CNT Technologies Inc., and Nanyang Technological University.

Prof. Zheng specializes in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of material sciences and nanotechnologies, focusing on low-dimensional nanomaterials and their functional applications. Key areas include:
- Smart Sensors (tactile, chemical, nociceptor)
- Photocatalysis for environmental remediation and green energy (H2 evolution, CO2 reduction)
- Energy Conversion and Storage (thermoelectric, triboelectric, electrochemical)
- Flexible Ionic Conductive Ceramics for solid-state batteries and sensors
- Neuromorphic Computing via Nano-Memristors
- Triboelectric Nanogenerators for wearable electronics
Scientific Awards:
- Nano 50 Award from NASA (2 times)
Advising: Prof. Zheng mentors a diverse group of graduate students, including eight Ph.D. candidates and one MSc student, across multidisciplinary research areas in nanomaterials and energy technologies.
Labs & Centers: He leads research at Khalifa University’s Advanced Research and Innovation Center and Research and Innovation Center on CO2 and Hydrogen.
