Liang Hu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Wayne State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on econometrics, international finance, and crude oil markets. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester, and dual undergraduate degrees in Management Science and Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
His research expertise spans advanced econometric methodologies, including Markov switching models, cointegration analysis, and volatility forecasting in energy markets. He has contributed to understanding crude oil market efficiency, exchange rate dynamics, and financial market interdependencies. Recent work emphasizes empirical applications of nonlinear time-series techniques to macroeconomic and energy market phenomena.

His teaching portfolio includes advanced econometrics courses (ECO7120, ECO7110) and introductory microeconomics (ECO2010).
