Liane Schmidt is a cognitive neuroscientist and Principal Investigator (PI) at INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) since 2017, affiliated with the Brain Institute. She leads the Control-Interoception-Attention research team, focusing on how beliefs, mindsets, and self-talk influence motivation, decision-making, interoception, and medical treatment responsiveness.
Her research combines functional MRI, behavioral testing, and computational modeling to explore neurocognitive mechanisms in healthy individuals and patients with psychiatric conditions like depression and autism. Collaborations include institutions such as Columbia University, INSEAD, and Sorbonne University.
