Liana Sayer

Liana Sayer is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland and Director of the Maryland Time Use Laboratory. She serves as Editor of the Journal of Marriage and Family, focusing on research that examines how time use intersects with gender, class, and race-ethnicity in shaping social practices and institutional dynamics.

• PhD in Sociology

Her research investigates the cultural and structural determinants of household labor, gendered relationship dynamics, and life-course variations in time consciousness and health behaviors. Current projects test innovative methods for time use data collection and analyze cross-generational and global disparities in time allocation.
