معرفی
Dr. Lian Gan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at Durham University. His research focuses on pulsatile and periodic flow dynamics, flow-structure interactions, and experimental/computational fluid mechanics. He holds a BEng (UK MEng equivalent) from the National University of Singapore and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Gan’s work spans fluid dynamics applications in engineering and biomedicine, including vortex dynamics in cardiac flows and development of novel ventricular assist devices. He is a developer of advanced experimental techniques like Tomographic PIV and sparse track-enhanced volumetric measurements. His lab combines experimental and computational methods (e.g., LES) to study scalar mixing, momentum delivery, and fluid-structure interactions.
Recent publications emphasize vortex ring formation, polygonal cylinder wakes, and biomedical device innovation. His research has led to collaborations with cardiologists and physicists. Dr. Gan supervises PhD students across fluid mechanics and bioengineering nodes, with annual applications opening in late October.
