Liam Mueller is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of California San Diego. His work bridges statistical methodology, education research, and ecological systems analysis. He holds a B.S. from The Evergreen State College and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee (2019). Before joining UCSD in 2021, he held instructional roles at Ohio University and the University of Tennessee.
Research focuses include developing Bayesian analysis tools for educational research and ecological data interpretation. He designs statistical frameworks to address complex classroom data limitations and collaborates on metabolomics/metagenomics methods for ecosystem studies. His educational work emphasizes hierarchical Bayesian analysis (HBA) via R package development and workshop resources.
Key research themes span plant genetic impacts on ecosystem processes, climate-driven phenological shifts, and eco-evolutionary feedbacks. His publications demonstrate cross-disciplinary approaches to understanding plant-soil interactions, pharmacokinetics, and long-term ecological patterns. Current interests include lowering barriers to advanced statistical techniques in education and ecological research.
