Liam Morrow

Dr. Liam Morrow is affiliated with the Research School of Earth Sciences at The Australian National University, specializing in Climate and Ocean Geoscience. His research focuses on advancing computational models for groundwater systems and interfacial instabilities in Hele-Shaw cells.

Education:

• PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics, Queensland University of Technology (2016–2019)
• Thesis: 'A numerical investigation of Darcy-type moving boundary problems'

Research Interests: Liam’s work integrates adjoint inverse techniques for real-time data assimilation and collaborates on adapting the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) to model land-atmosphere interactions in Australia. He explores geoscientific challenges such as hydrological predictions and energy transfers in environmental systems, with a strong emphasis on numerical methods and interdisciplinary applications in Earth sciences.

Labs/Teams: He is part of the Climate and Ocean Geoscience group within ANU’s Research School of Earth Sciences. His projects aim to bridge computational modeling with practical hydrological and environmental science applications.
