Li Zhaoping

Prof. Dr. Li Zhaoping leads the Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems research group at the Werner Reichardt Centre for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN) and the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany. Their work focuses on understanding how sensory inputs (vision, audition, tactile sensation, olfaction) are processed by the brain to guide sensorimotor actions and cognitive decisions.

Research interests include visual illusions, attention, object recognition, and saliency, employing interdisciplinary methods such as human psychophysics, animal behavior, fMRI, electrophysiology, and computational modeling. The team actively explores theoretical frameworks to explain visual processing dynamics and neural mechanisms underlying perception.

Publications emphasize cutting-edge studies on visual perception, binocular vision, and neural coding, with contributions to both experimental and computational neuroscience. The group collaborates internationally, bridging basic and applied neuroscience.
