Li Baowen

Li Baowen is a Chair Professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), holding dual appointments in the Department of Physics and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He is a member of Academia Europaea and a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).

He pioneered the field of Phononics and is a world leader in thermal conduction of micro/nano-scale materials. His research includes coherent/incoherent phonon regulation, quantum chaos, complex networks, and applications in thermal devices like diodes, triodes, and logic gates. He has authored over 400 papers, including 3 in Reviews of Modern Physics and 30 in Physical Review Letters, with an H-index of 100 and 36,000+ citations.

His awards include the 2005 Singapore National Science Award, 2005 OCPA Asia Achievement Award, and the 2017 Brillouin Medal. He has delivered 300+ invited talks and supervised 100+ Ph.D. students and postdocs.

At SUSTech, he leads the Phononics and Intelligent Thermal Materials Laboratory, focusing on solid-state refrigeration, KAN networks, and quantum sensing. His lab boasts advanced equipment like thermal bridge systems, 3D printers, and machine learning workstations, supported by grants including National Natural Science Foundation's Original Exploration Plan and Guangdong's Pearl River Talent Program.
