Judge Lewis Davis serves as an Adjunct Professor (Part-Time) at Golden Gate University School of Law, teaching Evidence, Advanced Evidence, and Trial Advocacy. He holds a JD from University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law (1981) and a BA in Philosophy from Clark University (1970). With extensive legal experience, he previously served as a Superior Court Judge in Contra Costa County (2006–2022), Assistant U.S. Attorney (16 years), and Deputy District Attorney (Alameda County).
His expertise focuses on the Philosophy of Punishment, Statutory Interpretation, and Evidence Law, particularly admission of uncharged acts in trials. He actively contributes to judicial training through Stanford Law School’s Advocacy Skills Workshop and Bay Area law school moot courts.
Publications include seminal works on congressional contempt power and administrative law reform. Awards include the 2023 Distinguished Adjunct Professor honor and federal commendations for prosecuting major drug cases. His career bridges academia, criminal justice, and judicial education.
