Leticia Fanucchi

Leticia Fanucchi serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Her expertise spans behavior medicine for dogs, cats, horses, and exotic animals, with a focus on evidence-based approaches to diagnose and treat behavioral challenges.

Her academic journey includes a PhD from Washington State University (2010-2015) and a DVM from Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná in Brazil (2000-2005). Prior to her current position (2022-present), she held academic roles at Washington State University as Clinical Instructor and Teaching Assistant, and worked as a Senior Clinician at a Canadian Veterinary Hospital in Qatar (2020-2021).

Dr. Fanucchi's research centers on applied behavior research and attachment systems, with publications examining canine cognitive dysfunction in senior dogs, veterinary anxiety responses, acupuncture for behavioral disorders, multicultural perspectives on animal-assisted interventions, and cognitive abilities in bears. Her scholarly work consistently bridges clinical practice with scientific investigation to advance veterinary behavior medicine.

She teaches multiple Behavior Medicine Elective courses throughout the academic year at Oklahoma State University, providing clinical reinforcement in diagnosing and treating common behavioral problems in companion animals. Her teaching spans the entire calendar year with sessions offered monthly from 2023-2025.

Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (Latin American), Dr. Fanucchi brings a multicultural perspective to her research and clinical practice, enhancing her ability to address diverse populations in veterinary medicine and animal behavior science.
