Leslie Coyne is a Clinical Professor and Instructor in Residence at Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. With over 20 years as an equity partner and of counsel at a major Alabama law firm, she transitioned to academia while founding her own firm, Coyne Counsel & Consulting. She specializes in labor & employment law, civil rights litigation, and employer compliance, having represented employers in high-stakes cases and advised the Jefferson County Personnel Board receiver. A certified mediator, she trains professionals on employment laws and presents at industry events.
Education: B.S. from Auburn University (summa cum laude, 1988), J.D. from Cumberland School of Law (magna cum laude, 1999). Additional certifications include LEED 2.2 and Certified Mediator.
Research focuses on labor law, civil rights, and dispute resolution. Awards include Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating and recognition from YWCA’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. She contributes to Cumberland Law Review and mentors students in the Innocence Clinic.
Professional affiliations span organizations like the American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and Alabama State Bar sections. Active in legal education and community leadership.
