Leonidas G Bachas serves as Professor and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami. He leads the Bachas Research Group within the Department of Chemistry, directing interdisciplinary scientific work across multiple domains.
Dr. Bachas's research operates at the intersection of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Science, with specific focus areas including novel sensing architectures, nanoscience, environmental remediation, and tissue regeneration. His laboratory brings together chemists, material scientists, and biochemists to address fundamental scientific questions while developing practical solutions to environmental and biological challenges.
As Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Bachas provides academic leadership for one of the major units at the University of Miami, overseeing numerous departments across humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
