Leonid Slavin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Michigan State University (2004) and an M.Sc. in Engineering from St.-Petersburg State Technical University (1996). His research focuses on Euclidean harmonic analysis, including singular integral operators, Bellman functions, Monge-Ampère equations, geometric measure theory, and quasi-conformal mappings. He has secured significant funding, including Simons Foundation grants (totaling $77,000) and NSF grants (e.g., $144,000 for Bellman estimates research). He co-organized the Ohio River Analysis Meetings and received a Taft Summer Research Fellowship. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses in calculus, linear algebra, and real analysis.
Research interests include sharp integral estimates, BMO spaces, and connections between Bellman functions and geometric problems. His work bridges harmonic analysis with PDEs and functional analysis. Recent publications address Campanato norms, maximal operators on trees, and Monge-Ampère equations. Awards include the Taft fellowship and multiple collaborative NSF grants. He mentors through funded initiatives and contributes to academic leadership via conference organization.
