Dr. Leonardo Villani is an Associate Professor of General and Applied Hygiene at Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences. He holds a Medical Doctor degree and is a specialist in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine. His roles include co-founding and serving as Scientific Director of the National Observatory on Antimicrobial Resistance (ONsAR) and as Scientific Coordinator of the Italian Institute for Planetary Health (IIPH).
His research focuses on Public Health, Epidemiology, and the Prevention of Infectious Diseases, with expertise in Vaccinations and Health Services Research. He has authored over 50 scientific papers, including Medline-indexed publications, books, and book chapters.
Dr. Villani teaches across multiple programs, including the MSc in Medicine and Surgery, MSc in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, and BSc degrees in Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Radiology. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration through institutions like ONsAR and IIPH, addressing global health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance and planetary health.
