Leonardo Rastelli is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University. He earned his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. His research focuses on quantum field theory and string theory, particularly the bootstrap program for superconformal field theories. He has pioneered methods in AdS/CFT correspondence and open string field theory. Rastelli has received prestigious awards including the Outstanding Junior Investigator Award, Simons Fellowship, and Guggenheim Fellowship.
- Education: Ph.D., 2000, MIT
His research interests span structural aspects of string theory, superconformal field theories in diverse dimensions, and the interplay between holography and bootstrap methods. Current work emphasizes numerical and mathematical approaches to charting the space of CFTs. Notable contributions include analytic solutions in string field theory and foundational work on the bootstrap hypothesis.
Recent articles explore topics like SCFT moduli spaces, Regge trajectories in large-N systems, and holographic dualities. His work bridges abstract mathematical structures with concrete physical predictions.
- Awards: Outstanding Junior Investigator Award, Simons Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship
- Grants/Funding: Supported by Simons Foundation and other institutions
Rastelli leads an active research group dedicated to advancing theoretical frameworks in conformal field theories. His work often involves collaborations at the intersection of string theory, quantum gravity, and algebraic geometry.
