Leonard Feldman is Associate Professor of Political Science at Hunter College (CUNY) and faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center. His scholarship examines intersections of legal order, executive power, and democratic theory, with current research analyzing policing through emergency powers frameworks. He authored the influential book Citizens Without Shelter: Homelessness, Democracy, and Political Exclusion.
His research investigates:
- Constitutional exceptions and emergency powers
- Homelessness as political exclusion
- Qualified immunity doctrine in policing
- Popular sovereignty and legal marginalization
Honors include fellowships at Grinnell College and Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study. He serves as Associate Editor of Polity and leads Hunter College's Human Rights Program.
