Leonard Braus serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Music at the University of Utah, a role he has held continuously since July 1, 2005. Prior to this, he was an Adjunct Associate Professor at the same institution from October 14, 1988, until June 30, 2005. His three-decade tenure demonstrates sustained commitment to music education at the university.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Specializing in violin performance, Professor Braus focuses on technical mastery, repertoire development, and stagecraft for string musicians. He conducts private lessons for undergraduate and graduate violin majors across all proficiency levels (I-IV), with particular emphasis on recital preparation for senior undergraduates and DMA candidates. His pedagogical approach integrates historical performance practices with contemporary techniques to cultivate versatile artistry.
Throughout his career at the University of Utah, Professor Braus has mentored generations of violinists, significantly shaping the string program's reputation for excellence in performance training and professional development.
