معرفی
Leon Christiansen is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials in Düsseldorf, Germany. His work focuses on the mechanics of materials at nano/micrometer scales, particularly at chemical interfaces. He investigates structure-property relationships in advanced materials such as Laves phases, nanotwinned metals, and dual-phase steels. His research combines experimental and computational methods to understand fracture mechanisms, deformation behavior, and interfacial phenomena.
Key research areas include nano-/micromechanics, thermo-chemomechanics, and interfacial mechanics. He explores topics like microscale fracture toughness of novel alloys, strain-rate sensitivity in nanomaterials, and mechanical heterogeneity in multiphase systems. His findings contribute to the development of stronger, lighter, and more durable materials for industrial applications.
Christiansen’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, with recent studies focusing on Laves phase materials and nanotwinned silver. His research addresses challenges in material design for aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors. He is affiliated with the Department of Nano-/Micromechanics of Materials and can be reached at christiansen@... or at his lab in Hall 8.
