Leo Nyman is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering at Aalto University, part of the School of Electrical Engineering, and a member of the Esa Kallio Group. He holds a Master's degree in Engineering and Technology (Aalto University, 2017) and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering (Tekn. toht., sähkötekniikka, 2024). His research focuses on advanced materials and space technology applications, including Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) for space coatings, additive manufacturing for aerospace components, and lunar habitat materials. Key projects include the LimPa mission proposal for lunar dust exosphere analysis and development of 3D-printed electronic circuits using ALD.
Research interests span surface engineering, thermal management systems, and materials durability in space environments. Nyman has presented at conferences on space materials and coatings, and his work appears in journals like Scientific Reports and Earth, Planets and Space. Media engagements include discussions on lunar habitats and space exploration on Finnish national platforms such as YLE.
