Leo McWilliams is a Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs at the College of Engineering, University of Notre Dame. He earned four degrees from Notre Dame, including a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, and returned to the University after a career in industry to lead transformative initiatives in undergraduate engineering education.

He has presented and published with the Association of American Colleges and Universities, American Society for Engineering Education, and Frontiers in Education.
He is a co-principal investigator on a National Science Foundation STEM Talent Expansion Program grant, underscoring his national impact in broadening participation in engineering. His work has been recognized with awards such as the 2022 Niebuhr Award for Social Justice and an honorable mention in the NSF Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Challenge. He was also featured in a 2020 New York Times article highlighting community-focused initiatives at Notre Dame.
As an academic leader and educator, McWilliams mentors future engineers and shapes institutional policies to support equitable outcomes. He is deeply embedded in educational research networks and continues to influence engineering education at both institutional and national levels.
