معرفی
András Lengyel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Structural Mechanics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Faculty of Civil Engineering. His expertise lies in structural mechanics, topology, and discrete geometry, with a strong focus on timber mechanics, composite reinforcement, and biomechanical modeling.
Education:
- MSc in Civil Engineering, Technical University of Budapest (1999)
- PhD, University of Oxford (2003)
Research Interests:
Dr. Lengyel’s research spans structural topology optimization, kinematically indeterminate structures, and discrete geometry. He has extensively studied timber mechanics, including the effects of knots and cracks on structural integrity. His work also involves composite materials, particularly CFRP and GFRP reinforcement of timber beams. Additionally, he has contributed to biomechanical modeling, such as the mechanical behavior of brain aneurysms using hyperelastic materials.
Recent Publications:
His recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on experimental and numerical analysis of aged timber beams, composite reinforcement, and polyhedral geometry. Notable works include studies on CFRP-strengthened timber beams, failure mechanisms due to knots, and optimization of polyhedral structures.
Labs and Teams:
He is affiliated with the Department of Structural Mechanics at BME, contributing to both undergraduate and graduate education, as well as research supervision in structural analysis and mechanics.
