Lena Wesemann is currently the Associate Director and Coordinator of the Graduate School of East Asian Studies (GEAS) at Freie Universität Berlin, holding a PhD in East Asian Art History. She has served as a Research Associate in projects like 'Campus trifft Schule' and the 'Privacy China' initiative. Her academic background includes a PhD on museums' presentation of Palaeolithic archaeology in China, an MA in Chinese Archaeology, and dual BAs in Archaeology/Sinology.
Her research focuses on Chinese archaeology (Paleolithic to Neolithic eras), museum studies in China, early dynastic histories (Shang/Zhou), and 20th-century political movements. She also explores Daoist philosophy and educational knowledge transfer mechanisms in China.
Wesemann has organized conferences like 'China im Berliner Schulunterricht' and delivered talks at institutions including Oxford University and the European Association of East Asian Art and Archaeology. Her publications address museum narratives of human evolution and material culture analysis of Shang Dynasty artifacts.
She coordinates GEAS's doctoral programs, advises on fieldwork ethics, and manages institutional partnerships with universities like Peking University and the University of Tübingen. Her office hours emphasize Thursday availability for student consultations.
