Lena Big Crow-Abourezk

Lena Big Crow-Abourezk, PhD, is a lecturer at Antioch University's School of Counseling, Psychology, and Therapy and a mental health counselor in private practice. She specializes in culturally responsive and trauma-informed care, serving Indigenous clients, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and underserved populations across South Dakota via telehealth.

Her research focuses on Posttraumatic Growth in Counselors and barriers faced by Indigenous counselors-in-training in graduate programs. She emphasizes cultural humility, ethical practice, and community-centered healing in counselor education, informed by her clinical work and teaching.

Professional affiliations include the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, and South Dakota Native American Counselors Association. Presentations include topics on rapport-building in virtual settings and counseling Indigenous clients.
