Leisa Anderton

Leisa Anderton is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at the School of Health and Social Care, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. She is the Lead for Digital Simulation and Technologies, focusing on digital and immersive technologies in healthcare education and practice. With over 25 years of clinical experience in nursing and 20 years in education, she specializes in long-term conditions, palliative care, telehealth, and XR technology integration. She leads postgraduate modules such as Research for Practice, Managing Long-term Conditions, and Healthcare Analytics & AI.

Her educational background includes an MSc, PGDip, BSc, and certifications like RNT, RN, QTLS, and Cert-Ed. She has contributed to course development for apprenticeships and T-level qualifications, and collaborates with awarding bodies in healthcare education.

Research interests center on technology applications in healthcare, including VR for emotional response assessment, telehealth, and simulation. She has published in journals like Journal of Community Nursing and Simulation in Healthcare, and her work has influenced national strategies on digital healthcare education. She is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Simulation in Nursing and involved in global committees for XR technologies in healthcare.

Leisa advises dissertation students and supports academic advisory groups. Her projects include digital workforce development and immersive tech implementation across universities. She has presented at conferences like the Healthcare Analytics and AI Conference and the International Nursing Informatics Conference.
