Leila Haghshenas is a Lecturer in English Studies and Head of the LEA Sector at the Université catholique de l'Ouest (UCO), Niort, France. She holds a PhD in English Studies from Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3 (2019), focusing on Leonard Woolf's exploration of alterity in his literary works. Her research integrates postcolonial theory, modernist literature, and oriental philosophy to analyze themes of identity, otherness, and ethical narratives.
She is affiliated with the Humanities and Societies Research Center and contributes to the Territories, Otherness and Circulations research axis. Her teaching spans advanced English language courses, literary analysis, and intercultural conflict management at undergraduate and graduate levels. Notable publications include studies on Leonard Woolf’s The Hotel , The Wise Virgins , and The Village in the Jungle , examining mutability, democratic narratives, and colonial dynamics.
Her work bridges literary analysis with philosophical frameworks, such as Kitarō Nishida’s theories, to explore themes of vulnerability, bare lives, and narrative democracy. She actively participates in academic networks and has presented at national/international conferences, furthering discourse on underrepresented voices in literary history.
