Leif Hemming Pedersen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Roskilde University's Department of Communication and Arts. He is affiliated with the AlterUse research project examining alternative media use in Denmark. His academic journey includes an MA in Journalism and English (2016) and a PhD in media and communication research (2023) from Roskilde University. Pedersen has dual experience as both a journalist and academic, with teaching roles in journalism and research methodology.
His research focuses on the intersection of media technologies, recognition processes, and mediatization. Key areas include alternative media's role in contemporary media ecosystems, digital publics' trust dynamics, and the societal implications of mediated communication. Methodologically, he combines quantitative and qualitative approaches including discourse analysis, surveys, and ethnography.
Pedersen actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects like the Sustainable Development Goal on Education. His recent publications explore Nordic media models, political trust frameworks, and digital accessibility in universal design contexts. He is a member of the Universal Design Hub research network and frequently presents at international workshops on AI, political conflict, and recognition theory.
