معرفی
Dr. Leif Azzopardi is an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the University of Strathclyde, leading the Interaction Lab (i-lab). His research focuses on developing and evaluating information-rich systems, including Recommender Systems and Information Retrieval (IR) systems underpinned by NLP, ML, and Deep Learning. Key projects include EU-funded DoSSIER (Domain-Specific Search for Information Professionals), EPSRC projects on Cumulative Data Risks, and collaborations with industry (e.g., BAE, Thales). He teaches Deep Learning and Startup Engineering, authoring Tango with Django. Notable awards include Best Paper Awards at ACM SIGIR and ECIR conferences.
His research emphasizes modeling interactions between people and systems, with projects addressing cognitive costs, exploratory search interfaces, and agent reliability. Current initiatives explore bias in neural models, sustainable consumer behavior via search, and conversational agent transparency. Dr. Azzopardi collaborates widely, including with Microsoft, Capita, and NASA-funded space knowledge capture projects.
- Principal Investigator for DoSSIER (2019–2023) and Cumulative Revelations in Personal Data (2019–2022).
- Co-Investigator in PHAWM (Participatory Harm Auditing) and space knowledge capture initiatives.
- Recipient of 6+ major awards since 2020, including CHIIR Best Paper (2024).
Labs/Teams: Interaction Lab (i-lab), collaborating with global partners like Microsoft and industry leaders.
