Lei Wang is a Research Fellow at the Department of Special Needs Education, University of Oslo, Norway. He previously held a Postdoctoral position at The Education University of Hong Kong and completed his Ph.D. there. His academic focus includes reading development in children, home literacy environments, special education for children with reading difficulties, and minority backgrounds. His research spans developmental psychology and educational studies.
Education:
- 2018–2022: Doctorate in Developmental Psychology, The Education University of Hong Kong.
- 2013–2016: Master's in Developmental Psychology and Educational Psychology, East China Normal University.
Research Interests:
- Reading development in Chinese early readers.
- Home literacy environments and parental influence on child reading.
- Reading difficulties in children with minority backgrounds.
- Cross-cultural studies on identity and intergroup attitudes.
Publications reflect a focus on morphological awareness, cascaded processing in reading, and dyslexia assessment in Mandarin. His work integrates cognitive, psychological, and ecological factors in literacy development.
Affiliations include the CREATE Center for Equality in Education and the Literacy and Numeracy in Context (LiNCon) group at the University of Oslo. Prior roles include a Research Assistant at East China Normal University’s Developmental Psychology Lab.
