LeeAnn Derdeyn is an Adjunct Professor in the English Department at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where she teaches courses in transatlantic literature, environmental humanities, and writing. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas and has interdisciplinary expertise in ethics, literature, and social justice. Her research spans 20th and 21st-century American, British, and Irish literature with a focus on environmental identity, trauma, and love.

Her articles analyze trauma in Helen Macdonald, relational failure in Ali Smith, and representational politics in Zadie Smith. The recurring themes include alienation, affirmation, insecurity, and the role of love in a fractured world.
