Associate Professor Lee Zhao is a faculty member at the School of Mathematics & Statistics, UNSW Sydney Australia. He received his Ph.D. and B.A. from Rutgers University in 2003 and 1998, respectively.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Rutgers University, 2003
- B.A., Rutgers University, 1998
- Research Interests:
- Analytic number theory, focusing on L-functions, exponential sums, and large sieve techniques.
- Applications to elliptic curves, quadratic progressions, and modular forms.
- Specialized in quadratic Dirichlet L-functions and Hecke L-functions over function fields and imaginary quadratic fields.
- Publication Trends (2025–2023):
- Recent work includes bounds for moments of quadratic and cubic Dirichlet L-functions, shifted moments, and twisted first moments with applications to non-vanishing results.
- Key themes: zero-density theorems, one-level density of low-lying zeros, and ratios conjecture for families of L-functions.
- Scientific Awards & Grants:
- Multiple Faculty Research Grants (2017–2024), including Goldstar (2019) and Silverstar (2022, 2018).
- Awarded Academic Research Fund Tier 1 Grants at Nanyang Technological University (2008–2013).
- Honored with the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service (2004) and Davies Fellowship (2004).
- Teaching & Supervision:
- Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in pure mathematics.
- Supervises research in analytic number theory, with a focus on L-functions and modular forms.
