Lee Tusman is an Associate Professor of New Media and Computer Science at Purchase College's School of Film and Media Studies. His work spans interactive media, software art, and curatorial projects, emphasizing open-source practices and collaborative DIY culture. He holds a BA from Brandeis University and an MFA from UCLA's Design Media Arts program. His research focuses on decentralized networks, generative processes, and alternative interfaces.
Lee’s projects include Messlife (a virtual art warehouse), Borscht Belt System (exploring Jewish cultural history through AI), and Self-Doubting System (a generative zero-player game). He co-founded Processing Community Day NYC and Babycastles, an artist-run space promoting experimental games. His work has been exhibited globally, including at MIT, The Hammer Museum, and the Barnes Foundation.
Lee actively mentors through the Processing Foundation and has secured grants from NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. His podcast Artists and Hackers explores intersections of art, technology, and culture. His digital tools emphasize accessibility, as seen in workshops for underrepresented groups in tech.
