Lee Troupe serves as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics within Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He joined the institution in August 2019 following postdoctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia and the University of Lethbridge.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Troupe specializes in Number Theory with a primary focus on arithmetic functions and their statistical properties. His research examines the distribution of values produced by these functions—such as average behavior, typical sizes, and probabilistic distributions—with significant contributions to Probabilistic Number Theory and Analytic Number Theory. This work bridges abstract number-theoretic concepts with statistical methodologies to analyze patterns in divisor functions, prime factorizations, and group structures.
His publication record reveals a cohesive research trajectory centered on the statistical analysis of arithmetic functions, frequently intersecting with group theory, elliptic curves, and prime number theory. Key themes include distributional properties in multiplicative groups, factorization dynamics in number fields, and probabilistic behavior of divisor functions, demonstrating both theoretical depth and interdisciplinary connections within number theory.
Outside academic pursuits, Dr. Troupe maintains active interests in crossword puzzles, sports (particularly baseball and football), computer gaming, and culinary arts.
