Dr. Lee Swanger is a Principal Engineer and Director at Exponent, Inc., and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Hertz Foundation. He is an adjunct faculty member in Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University and the University of Miami, bringing expertise in materials and mechanical systems failure analysis, patent infringement, and diesel engine design.
He holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from Stanford University and a degree from Case Institute of Technology. His career spans 36 years at Exponent, including over 500 depositions and 100 trial testimonies as an expert witness.
Dr. Swanger has testified before the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, supported the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard on diesel engine durability, and served as a Hertz Foundation Interviewer from 1982–2016. He is a licensed mechanical and metallurgical engineer in ten states.
