معرفی
Lee M. Zuckerman, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. His clinical and research work focuses on musculoskeletal oncology, particularly sarcomas, limb-lengthening techniques, and biological reconstruction after tumor resection. He is actively involved in clinical research and surgical innovation, with a strong publication record in orthopedic and oncologic journals.
Dr. Zuckerman’s research interests center on improving outcomes for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. His work includes biomechanical studies of limb-lengthening devices, pharmacological effects of anesthetics and NSAIDs on sarcoma cells, MRI compatibility of magnetic implants, and international limb salvage in austere environments. He frequently investigates novel surgical techniques and contributes to surgical education through detailed case atlases and technical reports.
His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on orthopedic oncology, with emphasis on limb reconstruction, implant technology, and translational cancer research. Trends include the use of motorized intramedullary nails, allograft reconstruction, and the impact of perioperative medications on tumor biology. His 2025 publications continue this trajectory with detailed surgical case studies in limb-lengthening after sarcoma resection.

Dr. Zuckerman has served as Principal Investigator or Investigator on multiple research grants, including federally funded Children’s Oncology Group (COG) trials on Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma, a study on opioid use in pediatric sarcoma patients, and research on local anesthetic effects on sarcoma. He mentors trainees and collaborates widely across institutions. His international service includes surgical volunteer work in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, reflecting a commitment to global orthopedic care. He is also involved in biospecimen banking and clinical trial protocols at the LLU Cancer Center.
Dr. Zuckerman is actively engaged in surgical education and professional development through committee work and ongoing research leadership. His lab and clinical team focus on advancing limb reconstruction and optimizing oncologic and functional outcomes for sarcoma patients.
