Dr. Lee Hunter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Coastal Carolina University’s College of Education and Social Sciences. With over 32 years of experience in public education across Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, she has held roles such as Principal, Assistant Principal, District Instructional Specialist, and Curriculum Facilitator. Her work focuses on evidence-based teaching strategies, continuous improvement protocols, and systemic educational reform through models like Professional Learning Communities (PLC), Problem- and Project-Based Learning (PBL), and STEAM education.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (Furman University)
- Master’s in Educational Leadership (High Point University)
- EdS and EdD in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction (Wingate University)
Dr. Hunter has led action research in urban, suburban, and rural districts, contributing to significant student outcomes. Her leadership at Jones Intermediate School resulted in the school ranking 3rd in North Carolina for growth (EVAAS data) and earning the National Blue Ribbon School status and NCASCD Lighthouse Award in 2018. She also coordinated grants like MAPSS, supporting 150 teachers in implementing PBL and STEAM strategies.

She is licensed to teach grades K-6 and holds administrator licenses for K-12 in the Carolinas.
